What is RMS?
RMS — Retail Management System is offline point of sale (POS) and shop management software for independent shops anywhere in the world. It runs on the shop's own computer and works without internet. RMS sets itself up for 12 kinds of shop: oil change, tyre shop, auto workshop, car wash, spare parts, bike shop, general store (grocery), departmental store, clothing, mobile & electronics, hardware and other retail.
Does RMS work without internet?
Selling, printing, reports, backups and licence activation all work without internet. The shop's records stay on its own computer. Internet is needed once, at setup, to register the business. During a power cut, keep the computer on a UPS and keep selling.
How much does RMS cost?
RMS Basic costs USD 39 a year or USD 99 once (lifetime), for 2 users. RMS Pro costs USD 79 a year or USD 199 once (lifetime), for unlimited users. There is no monthly fee. Every installation starts with a free 14-day trial with all Pro features. No card is needed.
What language is the software in?
The app's screens, bills and reports are in English, in plain words a counter cashier understands.
Which computers does it run on?
RMS runs on Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Windows 10 (32-bit), macOS and Linux (Ubuntu/Debian .deb and AppImage). The Windows installer works without internet.
Which currencies does RMS support?
RMS works in your own currency: choose the currency symbol, its position, 0 or 2 decimals, the number grouping (1,234.50 or 1.234,50), the date format and the time zone. Country presets fill these in at setup.
Can I sell in litres, kilograms or cartons?
Products can be stocked, bought and sold in different units — pieces, litres, millilitres, US or imperial gallons, kilograms, pounds, metres, feet, dozens, packs, cartons and more — with conversions such as 1 carton = 24 bottles. Quantities like 3.5 L or 1.25 kg are allowed where the unit permits.
Is RMS connected to a government tax system?
RMS prints tax invoices with your own tax name (VAT, GST or sales tax), rate and registration numbers, but it is not connected to any government e-invoicing or fiscal reporting system. Businesses that must report each sale to a tax authority in real time need a certified system.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
If the trial or a licence ends, RMS becomes read-only: the shop can still view, print, export and back up its records. Data is never locked away.
Can I try it before buying?
Every installation starts with a free 14-day trial with all Pro features. No card is needed. Download it, choose your kind of shop and start selling in about three minutes.
How fast is billing?
A returning customer's oil change bill takes under 30 seconds using only the keyboard, and a 10-item barcode sale under 20 seconds (both checked by automated tests).
Will it slow down after years of use?
With five years of data (200,000 bills), everyday screens answer in milliseconds and a 12-month profit and loss report in well under a second.
What can it print?
RMS prints A4, A5 and A6 invoices, 80 mm thermal receipts, a windscreen service sticker and 50 × 30 mm barcode labels. Every printout carries a QR code that shows whether the shop really issued it.
How are backups made?
RMS backs up automatically when it starts, every 2 hours and when it closes, can keep a second copy on a USB stick, and restores a chosen backup after showing a preview and asking you to confirm.
Is there a mobile app or cloud sync?
RMS is not a cloud service: there is no web login, mobile app or live sync between branches, and the app does not send SMS or WhatsApp messages.
How is my data protected?
Each user signs in with a PIN or password and has their own permissions; an audit trail detects changes made outside the app, and turning the PC clock back is blocked.
Is there a free trial?
Every installation starts with a free 14-day trial with all Pro features. No card is needed.
Do I pay every month?
No. RMS is paid yearly (from USD 39 a year) or once for life (from USD 99). There is no monthly subscription.
What happens when my licence ends?
If the trial or a licence ends, RMS becomes read-only: the shop can still view, print, export and back up its records. Data is never locked away. A yearly licence reminds you 15 days before it ends and allows 7 days of grace.
Can I move RMS to a new computer?
Yes. A licence moves to a new computer free once every 12 months. Back up on the old computer and restore on the new one to bring your data.
Can I upgrade from Basic to Pro?
Yes. You get a new key for Pro; nothing in your shop's data changes. Pro features you already switched on start working straight away.
How do I pay?
Pay by card or bank transfer in US dollars, or ask on WhatsApp about paying in your local currency or by mobile wallet. After paying, send your Machine ID and you receive your licence key.
Are updates included?
Ask us on WhatsApp which updates your licence includes before you buy; we will confirm it in writing.
Does RMS report sales to a tax authority?
RMS prints tax invoices with your own tax name (VAT, GST or sales tax), rate and registration numbers, but it is not connected to any government e-invoicing or fiscal reporting system. Businesses that must report each sale to a tax authority in real time need a certified system.
